PRESS RELEASE
NBC WEKA UPEWE CAMPAIGN GRAND WINNER DRIVES HOME A BRAND NEW NISSAN DOUBLE CABIN PICK UP

Dar es Salaam, January 8th 2015
One lucky National Bank of Commerce customer will today drive home a brand new 2014 Nissan Double Cabin Pick Up after emerging a winner of the grand prize in the bank’s "Weka Upewe" Malengo Savings Account promotion.
The three month NBC Weka Upewe campaign – which was launched in September 2014 - aimed at changing the lives of Tanzanians who, participated in the draw and won different exciting prizes.

Other prizes, won by various lucky customers during the three months include two wheel motorbikes (famously known as Boda boda), three wheel motorbikes (Bajajis) and the grand prize of a new 2014 Nissan Double Cabin Pick Up worth USD 32,000 which was won today by Josephat Gerald Ruyongo a 51 year old mason from Bukoba in Kagera region. All the draws were supervised by the Gaming Board of Tanzania.

Speaking during the final draw of Weka Upewe campaign in Dar es Salaam today, Rukia Mtingwa the NBC acting Head of Marketing, Communications and Corporate Affairs said the campaign has seen several customers winning these exciting prizes from this promotion, which was centred on the bank’s ambition of helping their customers achieve their ambitions – in the right way.

“These prizes will help our customers who won to increase their income or overcome transport problems in their day to day activities. The promotion was open to new customers who opened a Malengo Savings account and deposited TZS 50,000 or existing customers with Malengo Savings accounts depositing TZS 50,000 or more during the campaign period of three months. To top it up, all our Malengo Savings account holders were winners, as they were all guaranteed to get up to 7% interest on their savings”, said Ms Mtingwa.

She added that NBC decided to come up with the campaign to thank and reward their customers for their support and further encouraged them to start or increase a saving behaviour   with the bank for their own prosperity.
In 2013 NBC managed to change lives of six Tanzanians in the first edition of the NBC Weka Upewe campaign launched in October 2013.

“We changed the lives of our six customers who participated and won different prizes in a similar campaign last year. We are pleased with the success our customers have accomplished during the last campaign, and we are glad to have done it once again. Importantly, apart from winning prizes, our customers will benefit from the increased interest rates as well.” added Ms Mtingwa.

This is the third time that NBC is conducting such mega campaigns. In 2012 NBC launched a campaign dubbed “Dabo Mshiko wako na NBC”. In 2013, the first edition of “Weka Upewe” campaign was launched with celebrated success. These campaigns, aims not only at nurturing a savings culture among NBC customers, but it also seeks to thank and reward NBC customers for their business.
